When you hear “Pilates,” do you picture fancy reformer machines or complex routines?
Don’t worry—our approach is refreshingly simple. Pilates can be done anywhere, anytime—even while waiting for the kettle to boil!
In our New Beginnings: Movement and Nutrition workshop, we’ll introduce you to beginner-friendly moves that are easy to squeeze into a busy day. Here’s a sneak peek at three exercises you’ll love:
1. Pelvic Tilts
If you’ve ever felt stiffness or tension in your lower back (and who hasn’t?), this move is for you.
• How to do it: Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Gently tilt your pelvis so your lower back presses into the floor, then release.
• Why it works: It’s brilliant for easing back tension, improving posture, and waking up your core muscles. Just go within a range that keeps you away from pain - enjoy the move!
2. Cat-Cow Stretch
This classic Pilates move is a lifesaver for anyone sitting at a desk or feeling stiff.
• How to do it: Start on your hands and knees. Inhale as you arch your back (Cow), and exhale as you round it (Cat).
• Why it works: It releases tension along your spine and improves flexibility. Plus, it feels amazing! If you need a cushion under your knees - grab one: it's best to be comfortable!
3. Toe Taps
A gentle core-strengthening move that doesn’t put pressure on your back.
• How to do it: Lie on your back with knees lifted to a tabletop position. Slowly lower one foot to tap the floor, then bring it back up. Alternate sides.
• Why it works: Strengthens your deep core muscles while supporting your back. If you prefer, you can keep one foot on the floor if you're back arches with two legs lifted.
These moves may be simple, but they pack a punch when it comes to helping you feel more balanced, energised, and ready to tackle the day.
