Pilates Principles to get the most out of each class

Breath is the life force of movement, and in Pilates, it is both a tool and a principle.

As articulated in The Pilates Method of Physical and Mental Conditioning, Breath connects mind and body, facilitates movement, and enhances the efficiency of each exercise. By mastering the art of conscious breathing, we unlock deeper focus and improved performance.

Precise - aim for the spot

Breathing is integral to Pilates, facilitating movement and providing oxygen to the muscles. Proper breathing techniques enhance relaxation, concentration, and the efficiency of each exercise.

Class Focus Points:

Lateral Breathing: Practice expanding the ribcage laterally on inhalation, allowing for a deeper breath without elevating the shoulders.

Coordinate Breath with Movement: Inhale to prepare for a movement and exhale during the exertion phase, aiding in muscle engagement and control.
