Pelvic floor exercises are advised to all our clients undergoing prostate surgery or prostate cancer treatment to reduce side effects.
With Pilates, we work the pelvic floor as well as all the muscles that make up the core so that they work together. This then allows us to help you work towards the goals you may have.
Think of Pilates as the foundation for what you would like to achieve long term: we lay down the groundwork.
Post- surgery/treatment, we want you to be as strong and confident in all areas of your life as you can be.

Did you know...?
-
More than 44,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in England.
-
More than 420,000 men are living with and after prostate cancer in England.
As part of a specific rehabilitation programme including pelvic floor exercises, Pilates has been demonstrated to be a perfect form of recovery if you are undergoing prostate surgery.
Why is this?
Pilates is a low-impact exercise method which concentrates on the work of the muscles of the pelvic floor - the ones that help keep things in place (also called stabilising muscles), along with the deep muscles of the abdominals and also the diaphragm.
All these muscles make up the 'core'.
